Wendell was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama and comes from a tradition of accomplished legal professionals. He graduated from Samford University in 1983 where he served on the Student Government Body and was a member of the Lamda Chi Alpha social fraternity.
He earned his J.D. Degree from Cumberland School of Law in 1986 where he excelled in its trial program. Upon graduation he joined the firm of Sheffield & Sheffield, P.C.. He became a full partner in 1991 and today serves as President and managing partner of Sheffield & Lentine, P.C.
He is a member of the American Bar Association, Alabama Bar Association, Birmingham Bar Association, Greater Birmingham Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (where he served on the Executive Committee as Treasurer), and the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (where he currently serves as President-elect). Wendell is a law professor at Birmingham School of Law where he teaches Criminal Procedure. Wendell also serves his fellow lawyers by teaching Continuing Education Courses across the State of Alabama.
If asked what his greatest accomplishment has been during his lifetime Wendell would readily admit it was his marriage to his wife Elizabeth and their two children Ryan and Rachael. Wendell has handled hundreds of cases during his practice in the areas of criminal defense. In addition, Wendell handles juvenile justice, family law, and personal injury legal matters. He is a zealous advocate for the clients of Sheffield & Lentine, P.C. and is passionate about the concept of equal and fair justice for everyone.
